“The head of marketing, Alison Beasley, who’s still doing PR actually, phoned me up and remember and said, look, we’ve got to come up with a name for this game. And so I faxed her a list of names and at the bottom, I put Lure of the Temptress and I put in brackets, we can’t call it this by the way. And of course, you know, the one thing I’ve learned since then is don’t ever tell marketing things, people things that you don’t want them to grasp on to because she grasped onto this and said, we love Lure of the Temptress.
It has to be called that. And I said, look, Alison, honestly, the reason I said it can’t be Lure of the Temptress is the game has no luring, nor does it have a Temptress. And there was a silence and she said, can you put one in?
I went, really?
She said, yes. So what Mirrorsoft did is they extended it by four months so that we could rewrite the whole story so that it fitted the name that the marketing people liked.”
